Why Dominance-based Training is Bunk:

With all of the popular dog literature and dog training shows telling you to
become "Alpha" over your dog.  It may seem like your dog is suppose to be
your constant antagonist.  It doesn't have to be that way!  In fact scientific
studies of dog behavior and social systems show that dogs are not always
vying for dominance!  Clicker training allows you a way to communicate with
your dog without having to resort to violence or power plays.

The Truth about Shock Collars:

Shock collars are used for invisible fence, to stop barking, for snake
avoidance training, and more.  Shock collars are not endorsed by most
board-certified veterinary behaviorsts. What's worse, the collars themselves
are made by engineers with no training in behavior.  The marketing
materials for these collars
call them "Humane" and show photos of happy
dogs.  Please keep in mind that the marketing departments for these
companies know even less about behavior than the engineers do.  Shock
collars are dangerous and can have significant behavioral side effects such
as extreme fear and even aggression.

Prevent Dog Bites to Children:

Dogs don't bite "out of the blue".  Often before a dog bites, they have given
dozens of more subtle signals desperately trying to communicate that they
are uncomfortable. Dogonesafe.com is run by Clicker Expo Faculty member

body language and keeping t
he most vulnerable members of our families
safe from dog bites.
